Deirdre and Petter held the first interest meeting in at Strath Haven High School. The first team was formed! They also launched the first-ever ultimate program through the Swarthmore Recreation Association which has run every spring and fall since then, providing an ultimate program for students in grades 3-8.
Haven Ultimate played in Hip Hop and PHUEL's D3 City Championships in its first season.
Haven Ultimate won their first game! They beat Radnor JV at Kit Kat.
Haven Ultimate won the D3 City Championships!
Haven Ultimate had its first-ever players represent Philadelphia in the USA Ultimate Youth Club Championships in the Minnesota. Gavin Abrahamsson, Adam Blum, and Aiden Kempf played with the U16 team.
After finishing 11th at the PHUEL D1 City Championships, Haven Ultimate Varsity Boys qualified for its first-ever Pennsylvania State Championships. They were seeded 15th and finished 14th in Allentown, PA.
Haven Ultimate sent five players to the USA Ultimate Youth Club Championships in Minnesota.
After playing as a mixed team in the open division for the first few years and then some of our players picking up with other girls' teams, Haven Ultimate was able to field its own girls/female-matching team in the fall of 2017.
The Haven Ultimate girls team placed fifth at the PHUEL City Championships and then competed at the Pennsylvania State Championships for the first time, placing 8th. The Haven Ultimate varsity boys team finished 7th at the PHUEL City Championships and then placed fifth at the Pennsylvania State Championships.
Haven Ultimate had its best-ever finish at the Pennsylvania State Championships. The boys team finished second to Pennsbury, and the girls team finished third, beating Radnor, and won the Spirit of the Game award.
COVID came to town, and despite school closures and online school, the team kept playing while masked and following WSSD and PHUEL protocols. It was disappointing not to be able to have a state championship after our awesome finish in 2019. The coaches visited seniors to deliver gifts and awards at the end of the season.
Pennsylvania did not hold a state championship event.
Haven Ultimate had its first-ever players invited to try out for the USA Ultimate National team for the WFDF U20 World Championships. They were Bella Garcia, Katie Stack, and Gavin Abrahamsson. Haven Ultimate also had its first-ever player selected to a professional team. Gavin Abrahamsson was signed with the Philadelphia Phoenix in the AUDL.
After placing 10th at the PHUEL City Championships, the varsity boys earned a provisional bid to qualify for the Pennsylvania State Championships. The team ended up finishing fourth. SHUG also placed fourth.
Peter Boerth '20 was invited to try out for the USA Ultimate U24 National team.
Grace Hodges '19 played with the Philadelphia Surge in their inaugural season in the Professional Ultimate League, a women's pro league.
SHUG finished 2nd at the Pennsylvania State Championships and the Varsity Boys finished 5th.
Alice Rieger '28 and Katie Stack '25 were invited to tryout for the U20 National team.
Haven Ultimate had its first-ever player selected to the US National team. Katie Stack will play with the mixed team at the WFDF World Championships in Birmingham, England in July 2024.
